Zana Cosmetics www.LAFashionSnob.com By: Heather Petry 2010 I was gifted make-up from the eco-friendly line, Zana Cosmetics to try out and review. Kristin Gentner-the sales director sat down with me and helped determine the best products for my skin type- which is fair and prone to oil and acne. Keep in mind, that every ingredient used in Zana are talc, paraban and cruelty-free and is made right here in sunny Los Angeles. ~Moisturizing Lotion- This moisturizer is made with natural oils and rose extract. When applied to the skin before the make-up (and used twice daily) it makes the skin smooth and has a light scent of roses. ~”Picture Perfect” Face Primer- Used after the moisturizer, is used for prepping the face for make-up application. Ingredients include: avocado and safflower as natural moisturizers and rosemary and hibiscus as natural soothers. ~”Fresh-Face” foundation (in light beige for my skin tone)- I applied this foundation with one of the Zana brand brushes to my face, which has a few problem areas. After the application, I saw that it covered the problem areas perfectly. The foundation felt light…not caked on. ~”Unilucent” Pressed Powder- This is used after applying the foundation. This light powder kept my face shine-free and natural all day long. ~”Liquid Silk” oil-free liquid foundation- Like the “Power Matte” foundation, is easier when applied with a sponge. Unlike most liquid foundations, this one doesn’t run. I had to squeeze some on the back of my hand and it was heavy enough to where it didn’t run all over my hand. After rubbing off the excess liquid with a napkin, I noticed that it made my skin smooth and not oily nor sticky. It truly is liquid silk! ~”Power Matte” cream-to-powder foundation- I applied this foundation with a brush at first, then reapplied with a sponge and found that the sponge was more effective in full coverage (with some of my problem areas). After patting my face, I found that the foundation was also light and not have a caked-on feel. ~”Kiss My Lips” satin lip color (in Power Rose)- When worn, the light pink/rose hue is subtle with a hint of a glittery tone. ~”Lip Magic” lip balm (in Rose)- I love this lip balm! My lips get chapped very easily, but after one application, my lips are fine for the rest of the day, thanks to the rose extract and organic oils that make up the product. When I apply the balm, I notice (that I don’t from other brands) that the ergonomically designed tip hugs the curves of the lips, making for a smooth application.The rosey scent and taste ain’t bad either! ~”Shadow Fix” eye lid primer- Put this on before the eye shadow and it will make the color stand out even more. ~”Deliciously Cheeky” blush (in Salsa)- This blush is recommended to be mixed with the “Unilucent” powder so that it blends evenly for a more natural look. Or just apply it alone to accent your cheeks. ~”Seductive Eyes” high color shadows (in Zumba)- This dark rosey hue has a hint of shine and looks great on fair-skinned eye lids. ~”Diva Glaze” high shine tints (in Tropical Sunset)- This creamy gloss is a great alternative to your “average” gloss. It’s enriched in Vitamin E and doesn’t leave any sticky residue. ~”Sexy Lash” volume mascara (in blackest lash)- Just your average mascara for making your lashes gorgeous! ~”Exotic Lips” lip plumper- For those of you who love fuller lips, then you’ll like the “Exotic Lips” lip plumper. After a minute or so of the application, you’ll feel a tingling sensation-which means it’s working. I noticed a small difference in my lip size after about ten minutes. But you have to continue using it for thirty days to fully notice a difference. ~”Glitter Queen” eyeliner (in black)- This is a fun eyeliner! The black hue is rich and the glitter is a fun accent which helps one of my best features pop. However, after application, since it’s a liquid eyeliner, it’s best to keep the eyes closed for a few seconds and let it dry. ~”Flirt” eye liner (peach, pink, red and black)- These markers also have ergonomically designed tips that help create smooth, fine lines in rich hues that help make the edge of your eye lids pop. ~”Perfect Brow”-Use this when you want to even out your brows or customize your brow shape. ~”Clean Sweep” make-up remover- This make-up remover is oil-free and is more of a gel, which is great, in that it doesn’t make a mess like a watery remover would. La Habra, CA 1/7/2010 I was invited to a christmas party at Zana cosmetics it was such a fun party I had a makeup artist do a free make over he introduced me to all of the great products of Zana cosmetics... I fell in love with Zana instantly once I found out that it 's an all natural makeup. Also I love the fact that zana was me.I feel like I have finally found a makeup that expresses my personality it is chic ,fun, pretty and goes great with my budget. I love the fact that zana is sold out of Melrose ave. a place that I have grown up with in style and always a place to reconnect to my fun loving soul. The make up artist used the sexy lash mascara on me and I felt like I have finally found my mascara it doesn't flake or feel hard it's very soft but it's very beautiful natural and still adds sooo much volume and noticiable length. He also used Delicious cheeky blush. first of all, i was sceptic because with my pail skin I can never find something that doesn't look caked on boy was I wrong, it was sitting in this lil gold mine. rumba and a lil bit of crushed pink and I was beautiflly glowing not to mention that they have a very good quality brush set for only $19 I was blown away or should I say gently swept away.lol but true.. oh yeah and I absolutly love my lip gloss it's not sticky it reflects natural light and a plus to my complete make over. I left Zana shining with natural beauty and feeling rejuvinated and very confident in the the way zana made me feel like a million bucks for only a few dollars thank you Zana Cosmetics.... I am so confident zana's products I have just become a Zana girl and sold 2 brush kits a mascara and eye liner... But anyhow- the party was located in the Zana office-located on the second floor in a building on Melrose. Upon entering, I felt a homey atmosphere with accents of pink and a quote by Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I met up the Sales Director/licensed esthetician and make-up artist – Kristin Gentner, who showed me the line that was on display and also demonstrated the foundation, powder and blush on me. The make-up is cruelty-free, paraban-free and talc-free. It didn’t feel cakey or heavy…just very nice and light and covered all my problem areas. Along with make-up demonstrations, guests also munched on light appetizers and champagne with strawberries. There was a special treat that night, a free ten minute chair massage given by De’ Leon of Heavenly Hands Mobile Massage. I was literally in heaven after my massage. It was a long ten minutes, in which my muscles eased their tension and relaxed. So ladies and gents, if you ever need a masseuse at the office or in-home…De’Leon and his team of male and female therapists come to you! Not knowing what to expect, ZANA ended up delivering results across the board. We’ll start with the product we use most-Lip Magic Rose Balm. How much greatness can one pack into a 4oz tube? According to those who use ZANA’s Rose Balm, quite a lot! Lip Magic Rose Balm is mineral-oil free and paraben-free, which is a nice start. Got dry lips? Moisturize and protect your lips with the essence of the rose. This rich formula can also be used as a stand-alone gloss on lips. It has just a hint of iredescence, enough to enhance a 3-D illusion on the lips, giving them a fuller appearance. Apply over your favorite lip color for an all-over glassy color shine. Want to wake up with well moisturized lips? Apply to lips before bedtime. We woke up with full, moist lips ready for color! What could possibly be better than anything we have shared with you? Lip Magic Rose Balm is only $10.00. Enough said. We received a felt tip eye liner pen that is marvelous. What separated this pen liner from others on the market is it’s slim-line body, percise lining tip and the boy does this liner have staying power after application. Since we like to collect different opinions to feed our readers, we gifted the liner to a nurse(Jen) who works and plays hard. We followed up with her a week after and her feedback was stellar. She said that after a night of dancing, the liner stayed on without running or smudging. Asking the opinion of a nurse is always good because they will tell you what they did not like and what they love! Jen loves ZANA’s eyeliner! The mascara was gifted to a young lady by the name of Heather, who recently applied to be on CMT’s hit show The Singing Bee. Heather needed mascara and since her honesty is unbridled, we thought it would be a good fit. So what did a young, fashionable lady with unbridled honesty have to say about ZANA’s mascara? She said it made her lashes look longer and fuller. There was no mention of any allergic reaction after application. She enjoys the full application brush. Special thanks to Heather for your review of ZANA’s mascara! We appreciate your feed back. Crushed Rose Blush. At first sight, we loved the container and size of the product. The name is catchy and nicely complements the HD HP color, so we were excited to apply this in all the right places. The product is mineral based and heavily pigmented, so it can go in many different directions. How did we use it? The first application was a light splash in the balls of the cheeks. Nice! The second application was swept over the cheeks, forehead, chin, bridge of the nose and on the decollete. The finished product was well balanced and subtle. Cream To Powder Foundation. Our first experience with ZANA’s cream to powder foundation will most certainly be our last. We are completely sold on the rich formula, it’s pigmentation and coverage. This product has become a new fixture on out AM vanity scene. The last application entailed finger-blotting beneath the eyes, under the eye brows, diffused under the cheekbone and at the lip line. Nicely blended in, it proved positive for contouring and needed coverage. Other times, the silky smooth richness was applied all over the face for full coverage. The results? We again were very pleased with the even color and texture tone and could not wait to finish the face! If you need the ultimate in cream to powder foundation, ZANA has it! Sensual Diva Lip Stick. Looking for a nude lip color with a kick? Here is it. AND, the formula delivers staying power. The first time we applied this rich cream on our newly Rose Balm-treated lips, we were sold. Sensual Diva has a hint of gold, just enough to give it the right amount of enhancing fleck. This formula is the best we’ve seen in a long time-in fact, years! Choose from 10 fabulous shades that perform longer than most formulas! The true test of staying power? Are you familiar with the two latte or two cocktail test? We are, and ZANA passed with flying colors. Also received were an official ZANA Cosmetics tee-shirt in black with magenta silk screening, cosmetic bag, a deluxe eye lash set and promotional eye shadows in two enjoyable shades of pink. Another bit of information you can take and make yours…ZANA is very customer service focused. We like that! ZANA cosmetics are available to the general public through fine salons to continue the high standard of quality guest service. Average life span for products: 6-9 months with regular use ( little bit goes a long way). ZANA products are Cruelty-Free, fragrance free, talc free, and paraban free.
